Academy Soccer

The Academy style of training allows us to provide high quality professional technical training allowing our students to succeed at the highest levels. All programs are age-specific, meaning different elements will be stressed at different times in the player’s development. At the younger ages, the focus is on developing the fundamental skills and techniques required to become elite football players. This is accomplished by smaller fields (20% smaller), less people on the field (9v9), more training with a (3:1) training to game ratio and an intense focus on technical training.

As the players grow(14-17 years) and develop, the emphasis moves more and more towards game play and tactics. The goal at this age group is preparing the players for a future beyond the academy programs, either at collegiate or professional level. Our focus on this age group is showcasing the player and building up their CV in addition to intense training with the very best equipment and fields.

Academy Events

calendar

We have an extended outdoor program to maximize time spent in a representative match environment. Although individual programs will vary, the goal is to provide a 8-9 month outdoor season with the remaining 3-4 months used for indoor training, indoor games, player promotion beyond the Academy and fitness training. Our overall program runs 52 weeks while being sensitive to major Canadian holidays.

The Friendly Games and Inter Academy competitions can include the following;

  • U.S. based teams traveling to Ontario for exhibition matches
  • Academy teams traveling to the United States for exhibition matches
  • Showcase teams traveling to the United States for events designed to enhance scholarship opportunities.
  • Exhibition matches with Academy teams from outside of SAAC
